The Montessori method of teaching is driven by and based on  ambitious goal: to guide its students development to adulthood.  The child has to develop a level of  respect of  its environment and a pleasant and healthy relationship with other people. The traditional way of educating children is more focused on installing knowledge based on the knowledge building blocks in the schooling system. The Montessori way of teaching places an emphasis on education on a more personal level. Traditional education, which nowadays is preferred by the majority, remains focused on the transfer of knowledge by making use of prescribed blocks, while the Montessori approach is focused on the natural development of man.

The underlying idea is that someone will learn a lot faster and better if he or she is really interested in something. Students are made aware of topics that should be studied in a different way from usually types of education. A Montessori student is encouraged to explore topics and find interests, to which knowledge building blocks are then connected. This leads to a more positive attitude towards learning and eventually the student grows and develops into a person who can make  a positive contribution to society. The Montessori curriculum is aimed at creating and nurturing well-round and independent adults with a good set of social skills and a solid basis of knowledge.

Maria Tecla Artemesia Montessori  worked as  a  physician and educator and became known for the philosophy of Montessori schooling that bears her name, as well as for her her writing on scientific pedagogy.

Montessori schools can be found all over the world and the method is the basis of a very popular type of education in both Europe as well as in the USA. Children from any background, religion and culture can be enrolled in the Montessori schooling program. Montessori educated students can move on to become regular college or university students in later life.
