Education is the most important factor in the development of a nation. The level of education of a community and even of a continent is indispensable and is witnessed in the political, social and economic activities of its people. Of course even the technological development of a nation is based on the level of education that developers have.

It is a fact that many students in the third world belt receive too low a level of education (or no education at all) to be able to develop their basic educational skills into a successful career. Further learning is often not possible or available for those with only limited knowledge.

More children are able to attend school today in third world countries such as Africa, but the availability of schooling does not guarantee a good level of education. Organizations such as the QEDC (Quality Education in Developing Countries) focus not only on the availability of schooling, but also on the quality of the education offered. The basis is that all children should be able to learn to read and write and think for themselves when they reach the end of third grade. The QEDC supports efforts to improve education in developing countries such as India, Ghana, Malawi and many more. Students should leave the school system after having gained enough knowledge and after having absorbed enough information to be able to move on to a career or further schooling in their lives. Right now many poor families invest their incomes into the education of their children in hope of a better future. This effort must be answered to by offering the best education possible by improving public knowledge about learning outcomes. Learning should be measured. Grantees need to keep developing and supporting the development of effective teaching to improve student learning at a low cost. Schools need to keep adjusting and need to keep seeking resources to improve the quality of their education.
